About me

My name is Rob Smith.  I am a fully qualified ADI (Government Approved Driving Instructor).  My driving school is based in West Yorkshire and serves Mirfield, Huddersfield, Dewsbury, Cleckheaton, Heckmondwike, Batley, and surrounding areas.

The aim of the driving school is to teach you safe driving for life, not just to "get you through the test". My driving lessons take place in a calm, friendly atmosphere and I use the latest teaching techniques. I also prefer to 'teach' my pupils to drive, rather than just 'instruct' them.

My aim is to make your lessons an enjoyable and positive experience.

I am also an experienced classroom teacher and have a thorough understanding of how to get the best out of pupils. I believe that mistakes should not be seen negatively, but as the opportunity for new learning to take place.

Confidence is very important when learning to drive and can be easily shattered by harsh or insensitive criticism. I therefore believe it is essential to give lots of praise and positive encouragement for what has been done well in a lesson, as well as analysing and remedying faults in a constructive manner.

It is also very important to constantly update pupils on their progress, for which Ihave developed a pupils' progress log.
