So what's new?

From 4th October 2010 the driving test changed. Instead of

the candidate having to do 2 manoeuvres and follow directions for the

whole 40 minutes of the test, there is now only 1 manoeuvre, the

second one being replaced by 10 minutes of independent driving. The

candidate will be asked to either:

* Drive to a destination following road signs

* Follow a series of verbal directions with the help of diagrams

* Drive using a combination of roadsigns, verbal directions and diagrams

During the independent drive the candidate will still have to drive safely,

keeping to speed limits and obeying road markings and signs etc but

must drive completely independently, unaided and unprompted.
